Were You Wondering Where I Went?

As I informed y’all last week, we made it to our home in Honduras!

We are living in the mountains outside of Comayagua, where we are living out of our tents and working on building a church!

We have no phone service, no electricity, three showers (yay, no bucket showers!), and one toilet amongst the 70 of us onsite.

You might think be thinking, wow, Vic, that’s crazy.

And it might be, but I am SO happy here.

I literally feel the joy of the Lord every day throughout my day and I’m so incredibly happy to be here.

Every day, I eat the best food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner—all thanks to our new friends here who work so hard at making us delicious, flavorful meals;  I have a quiet, private, sacred space inside my glorious $25 Walmart tent, thanks to my friend Courtney who snagged it for me before we left Guatemala (it’s huge, and I feel like I’m living in a mansion), I get to wake up each morning and look out at my gorgeous mountain view of tropical greenery while I praise the Lord and read my Bible; I have already gotten to work in women’s ministry here and also in construction as we have leveled the ground for the church (yes, I’m now quite skilled in using a pickaxe, a hoe, and—obviously the most exciting—a machete!); and to top it all off, I get to I get to better my Spanish in the process with all my new Honduran friends!

Never in my life did I think I’d ever be able to say I chopped bamboo with a machete and then carried said bamboo on my shoulders for a mile up a mountain…

…But here I am! (Yes, we did that several times this week!)

It has been amazing.  I love my life.

Thank you, Jesus.

I cannot get over how good Jesus is to us.  What a beautiful gift this life is!

Thank you, Lord for all these gifts here in Honduras already! I cannot wait to see all the beautiful things You have in-store for us here! I am in awe of you, Jesus! Thank you!
