Nothing in this life is certain, except God’s love for us.

Where do you place your trust?

Is it in your career?  Or your retirement funds?  Is your trust/security/happiness placed in another human—perhaps your spouse, a parent, friends, a political leader, your kids, or a sibling?  Is your security in your assumed identity—maybe as a mother, a partner, a businessperson, or an artist?  Is your safety in knowing you maintain a spotless reputation/perfect image?

I know I’ve placed my trust and fulfillment in many different things.

It is human nature to do so.

It’s human nature to worry about our jobs, our families, our reputations, and our futures.

But, why should we worry?

My mom never fails to remind me of this profound verse: “Worry about nothing; pray about everything.” (Philippians 4:6)

When I start to feel worried/anxious/fearful, I pray.  And when I pray, I feel immediate peace fall over me and flow through me like an overwhelming flood.

When our trust is fully in the Lord, we can live life fearlessly.  We can live our lives with an abundance of joy, hope, and peace.

When I place my trust in everything other than Jesus, I’m never fulfilled, always disappointed, and inevitably fearful of the future.

What does placing my trust in the Lord look like?

It looks like seeking God’s will in all things.  It looks like spending more and more time with Jesus (because I now crave time with Him).

With all my decisions, I hope to seek Jesus and go back to the Lord’s one piece of irrefutable Truth, the Bible.

It’s funny; the more time I spend with the Father, the more I want to be with Him.

As you well know by now, Jesus changed my life when he consistently said this one thing to me:

Victoria, just spend time with me.”

So, (eventually) I did.  I just spent time with Jesus, and because I did, my life was forever changed.

Yesterday, I wept as I read Psalm 27:8, which says this:

My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.

As I meditated on this verse, I was filled with an overwhelming emotion I cannot quite describe.  I felt so seen, so heard, and so known by Jesus because He had said the same thing directly to me for so long.  He still says this to me.

Victoria, spend time with me.

I can’t tell you where the Lord is calling you, what he’s calling you away from, or what you should do in life.  But I can tell you this: place your trust in the Lord.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

-Proverbs 3:5-6

When you feel unsure of a big decision, talk to Jesus.

When you are joyful and blessed, thank Jesus.

When you feel sad or hopeless, talk to Jesus.

Even when you’ve already put your trust in something or someone else, seek Jesus, for he loves you.

It’s never too late to spend time with God.  Don’t let the enemy make you feel guilty or less than worthy of God’s time and attention.

You are God’s priority.

He wants more than anything to spend time with you.

This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.

blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” -Jeremiah 17:5-8

  1. When I read this, Victoria, I immediately thought of James 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. I love that verse because it is so true! That’s what God wants is a relationship with each one of us, and He shows himself to us daily! We just have to find where He’s working and join Him! I love that you love Jesus so much and that you are not afraid to share your faith! Thank you for loving me unconditionally and for keeping me FOCUSED on what really matters in life-JESUS!

  2. I LOVE that God wants to be pursued by us just as much as we desire to be pursued by others.

  3. I love that verse ! YOU ARE SO WORTHY AND SO LOVED, dear friend! Blessed to know you and to have this opportunity to do life with you!
